Our promise to children and families
We promise to:
- Create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and protected
- Listen to and believe children when they share their experiences or worries
- Respect each child’s unique background, abilities and needs
- Work alongside families, schools and community partners to ensure the best care for each child
The standards we follow
Connected Learning Foundation operates in line with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Our Board holds accountability for child safety and reviews our policy, practices and reporting pathways every year.
Our team
Every member of our team shares our dedication to children’s safety. We ensure this by:
- Requiring a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) for every facilitator, staff member and volunteer
- Providing comprehensive child safety and reporting training before anyone delivers a session
Safety in practice
Children’s safety guides everything we do. We maintain:
- Attendance tracking for every session
- Detailed incident reporting and response procedures
- Safe, supervised spaces for all activities, in partnership with each school or organisation
Open communication
We believe in creating a community of trust. Children, families, schools and partners are encouraged to:
- Talk with our team at any time about any concern
- Share feedback through our regular feedback sessions
Reporting concerns
If you or a child has any worries, we want to know. We handle all concerns with care and confidentiality. Please never hesitate to email us at sana@connectedlearning.au.
We are mandatory reporters and will notify relevant authorities when required under the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.
Our commitment to improvement
We regularly review and update our safety practices so we provide the best possible care. This includes:
- Annual policy reviews, overseen by our Board, with input from families, children and partner schools
- Regular safety audits
- Updates to reflect changes in legislation and best practice
Working together
Children’s safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage:
- Open dialogue between facilitators, schools and families
- Regular updates about children’s experiences in the program
- Family and partner participation in our safety review processes
- Community feedback on our practices
Together, we can ensure every child we work with feels safe, valued and supported to grow and thrive.
